whats labor time on a engine sway?
Are you asking what is the "official" GM listed labor time is, as used for warranty work ???? Or are you asking how long it takes a certified mechanic to do it?? Or are you asking how long it would take a "shade tree" mechanic to do it ??
I believe a dealer would quote +10 hours for an engine swap .... depends on what engine is going in versus coming out .... a crate motor "one for one" swap is probably in the 10 hour range ... anything else will go up dramatically from there.
A dealer following the GM procedure (and since they have the lifts, etc) will drop the engine out the bottom. A "shade tree" mechanic is more likely to pull the engine out the top .... heck ..... find a good limb on that tree and a rope and pulleys .... you don't even need an engine hoist ....
Don't know if this answers your question ....
13.9 hours with no transfer of parts. That is to swap a COMPLETE engine.
17 hours to swap some of the parts, electrical, fuel, etc.
22.1 for a LONG BLOCK.
We charge 20 hours. No one ever has a complete engine.
GM warranty time is 10.2. This is one reason I dont work at the dealer!!
