Default Throwout bearing install

I just recently completed a clutch install. All was well for the first 650 miles, now the car is making a bad metal on metal grinding noise coming from the clutch area. The noise occurs only with the clutch pedal pushed in with the engine rpms off idle(meaning no noise idling with the clutch in) and it get really bad when you start to accelerate. I would assume this noise is coming from the throwout bearing. First off, why would it wait 650 miles of trouble free driving before it would cause it. It also happened very suddenly, got back from a 100mi round trip with no noise and the next morining it was there. The new slave and throwout bearing seemed to be a bit different than OEM which seemed to be one unit while the new ones were separate. Could it have been the install? I was unsure if it was right when I did the install so I should have posted this thread before hand, but seeing that no one ever gave any directions I assumed it was as easy as putting the throwout on the end of the slave. I am dreading dropping this drivetrain again...

I'd bet you're right. IT could have gotten mangled or even be in backwards. On the upside you'll be a master by the time you are done (unfortunately)

new ones were separate? thast odd, usually the slave is all in one. Did you replace the pilot bearing?

The latest PN for the slave is #89059282 and has replaced previous numbers. It is a single unit, that includes the TO bearing.

I ordered pn 89059282 from Byunspeed when I ordered my clutch and the slave came in a GM box with the throwout sitting at the bottom of the box. When I installed it, i simply set the bearing on the end of the slave in the same orientation as the old one was. The pilot was in good shape so I didn't bother.

The throwout is definately wrong, it almost looks like I was sent a slave without an integrated throwout and someone threw a C6 throwout in the bottom of the box. I simply wrote off the difference as a design update. I hope nothing was destroyed due to the incorrect slave/throwout. This blows.
Edit: My slave/throwout assembly looks nearly identical to a GTO unit, though mine still had the steel braided hydraulic line of the C5.
