Well with HP tuners it cost 125.00 to license so he isnt using that, not sure about EFI live... So I would be Leary of him.

Making your fans come earlier on isn't a "tune". It's just one of many things that are done in a tune. You would be missing many of the performance enhancing aspects of it, especially the shift points/firmness adjustments of your A4.

Pass.

If he already has 02 models licensed, it would cost him nothing but time.

Seems like a fair price to me.

If your car is bone stock ( 192 stat ) why would you want to change the fan settings, you can't lower the fan temps with a stock stat and expect the fans to survive. You need a lower stat to allow the fans to cycle on and off... you are better off buying a Vinci adjustable fan controller that on exceptionally hot days, 95 + you can adjust the fans to come on at a lower temp... and then turn the Vinci off on 80 degree days when the evening temps can get cooler... running your car hotter is much better than running it too cold.. but your stock stat needs to have the fans where they are set

I have to disagree based on experience. Obviously if you set the fans ridiculously low you may have issues. Most people lower them to reasonable levels so that their car isn't idling at 230F.

Fans shouldn't be running above 30-35mph.

You can set em for the primary to come on at 205 and shut off about 197, and the secondary to come on a 215 and go off at 207. Thats how I set em all that have a stock stat.
As for the money, its up to you to decide if its worth it. For about 5 minutes more work you can tune the trans and torque management and it'll feel like a whole other car. I charge 200 bucks for an off dyno tune on a stocker. On the autos it makes a big difference. 6 speeds not so much.

The only thing you want to avoid is having your fan turn-off set to a lower point than your thermostat rating. Trying to run your fans to cool to 180 obviously won't work if your Tstat closes at 192 (Your fans will NEVER shut off).
The 35mph turn-off feature is only related to a/c operation...the fans can and will run at ANY speed if turn-on setpoint temp is reached while moving.

Yes, for $50, it's worth it to not have the car idling at 225-230. Have your friend use the setpoints posted above, it's worth it.
