Default temperature sensor

When I removed the plastic piece that covers the temp sensor (the piece directly to the left of the ignition switch), something was missing. I had a wire with an empty connector. Does anyone know the part number of the piece I am missing? What does it do exactly, because everything seems to be working well!

Or should I stick with if it ain't broke don't fix it?

It's the interior temp sensor. Check the forum vendors on the left side of the page, I'm sure you'll find one there.

Do you have auto climate controls? If not, then don't worry about it. It is part of the auto climate controls, If I remember correctly.

I agree, you could be seeing wiring for something the previous owner had in there for God knows what. If your sensor is working properly the disconnected wiring CANT be for it anyhow.

When I put my column lock bypass in for the first time, this is where I found my sensor :

Except it was wire tied to one of the braces in the dash. I always wondered why my temp inside the car couldn't be properly regulated. It appeared that during one of the many dealer attempts to fix my column lock, they just wire tied it inside the dash, instead of actually trying to reinsert it into the proper location (which can be a little tricky).

Anyway, the sensor should look like the above picture if it's all still intact.

No CJ2 HVAC system, no sensor.
