Need Recommendations for Modifying a 2000 A4 Coupe
I have a 2000 A4 Coupe with about 8K miles that I would like to start modifying. I have already added a Corsa Touring Exhaust and Halltech Intake.
I only want to spend about $3,000 on the mods and therefore, would like to purchase the best bang for the buck (so to speak) that would best work with the modifications already completed. Too many times I have discussed certain mods. with friends, only to learn that some recent aftermarket purchase did not work well with a previous mod.
I figured I would ask you folks, the Forum experts, for your opinion on this subject.
In addition to the mods. already on the car, I am strongly considering a Super Yank 3500 torque converter, a Hypertech Programmer and a 175 degree thermostat.
If you were the program manager for this project, what else would you buy?
Re: Need Recommendations for Modifying a 2000 A4 Coupe (72 LT-1)
SY 3500 (we have 3 left in stock) ;)
Gear

This will aboslutely make your car feel al new again! Pickup will be great! For bolt on mods, it will be an animal and still drive around town GREAT!!!

I'm completely illiterate when it comes to this. Also have a 2000 A4
what sort of costs are we looking at for each mod and how easy are these to do. I'm in New Zealand and will have to do the mods here. Would probably want to get the whole lot done at one time.. only wishing to part with my baby once...note car is rhd
Corsa Touring exhaust
Halltech intake
3.42 gears
TC/Sy3500 is this the yank stealth
thermostat
powerloader/Gear programming/PCM reprogramme ??are these all the same?
head cam package
supercharger
I'm sure some of these are duplication but looking at the posts above it seems like these are the recommendations...

thermostat... we went with a 170 Thermostat with Fan Controller; the separate fan controller enhances effectiveness
powerloader/Gear programming/PCM reprogramme ??are these all the same? Powerloader is one of the PMC re-prorgrams available http://www.ttspowersystems.com/
head cam package ... there are many tuners around; here is who I use & this will give you idea on pricing; he also has supercharger pricing on his site too http://www.geocities.com/norrismotorsports/
Re: Need Recommendations for Modifying a 2000 A4 Coupe (Sully C5)
Thanks guys for all the great ideas. I am completing my Christmas list now. I like the idea of purchasing the 3.42 from the M6 guys that already upgraded. I certainly hadn't considered that option and I am sure there will be someone on Ebay that has it for sale.
How tough is it to do the TC? I did all the rebuilds on my 72 including the rear in my garage, however, when it comes to the newer computer controlled cars I am at a loss. Is it a pretty straightforward exchange?
For Austrian Vette: What a beautiful right-hand drive car. I visited Austria in the 80's when I lived in Nuernberg for 3 years. I can just imagine the looks you get driving that car on the Autobahns.

Thanks Sully for the great info and 72 LT-1. I certainly love driving this car around. It is a head turner and I use it for everyday driving so have to find out what mods are street legal here in NZ.'
Re: Need Recommendations for Modifying a 2000 A4 Coupe (72 LT-1)
72 LT-1, See my thread under "Mike Norris Ruined my car". Your on the right track as far as the most bang for the buck( gears & SY3500) for a stock motor car.
