Default creative mounting position for trans cooler

Has anybody strayed from the norm when installing a trans cooler. In front of the ac condenser is OK, but not very sexy. Does the thing have to go in the front of the car? I was thinking a twin cooler setup that would hang just a bit low by the rear ducts. I think that would look cool, but not sure if I would get the air flow I needed...that's why I suggested a twin cooler setup. Anyway, where have you guys mounted yours...do you use those ugly plastic straps that hold it against the ac condenser?

You can mount it anywhere in the back and use it with a fan.Summitt sells them.
Take care.

Many ppl remove the Z06 brake ducts and put the trans and diff coolers in there. One on each side Plenty of air goings though those little radiators. Rear brake ducts dont do much any way.

Mounting the coolers under in back would work, but there is a lot of heat from the mufflers and or if you accidentally went over something those radiators could get hit or punctures.

Mine us up in front of the AC condenser and I have a trinton pump to move the fluid up and back.

We fabricated to steel brakets to mount the coolers too

Left is the trans cooler and right is the oil cooler

Trinton pump

Ah yes, the rear brake duct would be a good place as well. Do I need (should I) run braided steel line or is rubber line sufficient?

Also, is it necessary to run a pump to move the fluid?

Trust me you want a braided steel line!
And you already have a pump since it's an A4.

Yo want the braided lines.

When put the roll cage in and finish off the car as a race car, the high temp rubber lines come out and braided lines go in.

For best fluid cooling you wan the pumps, with a manual switch, not an temp depended automatic switch.

Trans and diffs need a fair amount of heat to work properly. So too much cooling is not a good thing

where do run the lines from the back of the car to the front? Is there a space between the frame rail and the kick panal of the car?

I think thats what in looking at in the photo? The pump is mounted in the rear finder area correct?

Dealing with same issue...using b& m maxi cooler w/fan best place we could find is a boxed in area behind wheel well drivers side..going to drill holes into wheel well side for air, and then line on back side with mesh screen to keep debri out...running steel lines ...will keep u all posted as to how it works out.

I just installed the B & M 13000 btu unit up front and with the rubber hose. Didn't want to go through all the effort of finding a place in back and running lines that could get too hot from the exhaust.
