It addresses using the "prefered" jacking points which are sructural members in the front and the rear. I made my own jacking pads for these locations from 2X6 wood. You want to span the ribs on the aluminum cross members before placing jack stands to avoid potentially craking them. I drive the car onto 2X12s placed in front of Rhino ramps and drive onto the ramps. I then jack the car up using my 2x6 jacking pad. You do not require a low profile jack with this method. In the rear you can simply slide the jack with a 2x6 jacking pad placed on it and jack the rear up. Look up the tech tips portion of
and it shows jacking with photos althought he did not use jack pads which I would not recommend doing. Personally I do not like jacking the car at the jacking puck locations as these are designe for a 4 -point lift. Hope this helps.
I don't like to mess with ramps either.
I just use a low profile jack and raise whichever side or corner of the car I need to work on.
For changing oil, I just raise the left side of the car enough to remove the drain plug, then lower it back to the ground for it to drain. I can change the filter without the car even being on a jack.
