Default too am curious

I also installed blackouts Iam curious for the rear lights to be brighter. Not sure if its possible but figured I would ask. I will check my manual to see what wattages are in there and then take a trip to the autoparts store to see what they have for higher wattages. Anyone know what the max wattage the rear bulbs circuit can handle?

Default ok so

I went down to autozone and found that the back up lights are 3071's and are rated at 27/6.8 watts but that if you goto 3061's they jump to 27/8.3 watts not a big jump but figured I would mention it.

Default Use 885s for thr fog lights they are a LOT brighter

Original fogs are only 37 watts. 885s are 50 watts. Can almost drive without headlights after the swap. Have run them for 2 years and haven't melted anything. Use them with the low beams all the time.
For other swap outs check the archives. Some have put hi beam lights into the low beam socket after filing down the centering plastic piece.
Haven't tried that as I went nuts after bending the small aluminium retainers and had to disassemble both lights to bend the suckers back into shape. BIGHANK

Default Brighter light from headlights

Just installed Ultras in my 98 C5. Changed both highs and lows.
Than reaimed the lights. (Really use a lot of penetrating oil and soak the plastic adjusting aiming torx screws before turning them, or they may break off.)
Was not hard to replace bulbs. I found it easier if a reached in and removed connector first and than turned the bulbs out.
Made a big, wonderful difference in lighting.
May not be as bright as HID, but is much better than stock bulbs.
Takes about 30-45 minutes.
Easy mod with good results.
Cost for all 4 bulbs on ebay was about $40.

Looking forward to putting #885s in my lower lights.

Another very good headlight is Slyvaina SILVERSTAR Its not really brighter but a lot whiter than the standard halogen bulb.

I am using the 9011 bulb in hi and lo beam. I like the improvement in light output. Also - HL alignment is important.

Default 885

Put in 885's tonight and adjusted their aim up a bit.
Now with the Silvania Ultras and the 885 you can have some pretty good light.

What about the rear? Can you make it brighter without resorting to LEDs?

Just be careful when doing a brighter/higher wattage bulb. Sometimes these can fry the wiring and/or melt the housings, and even more so when you do blackouts and keep more of the heat in.
