Default Cold air screens question

If I replaced my C5 foglight housing with a set of screens, will I be allowing cold air into the engine bay? Will this improve the performance of a bolt on intake such as a Blackwing, Haltec, or K&N to be more effective?

Cooler air into the engine bay is nearly always a good thing.

Yes, you can either remove the fog light panels, completely or replace them with pre-drilled versions. This will allow cold outside air in to cool off intake air temps. If you like the look of the black fog light panels and fog lights that are not diffused by Z06 screens, an option is to do part or all of my CAI for Halltech Stingers and Blackwings:

I was able to bring down intake air temps by as much as 40 degreesF, compared to not having the CAI.

Can you replace the plastic radiator shroud with a screen or remove it all togather?

Since you listed a few different intakes I'm guessing you haven't put a different intake on yet. If you haven't, I highly recommend you go with the Vararam and kill 2 birds with one stone based on your questions. You'll get much better performance than any other CAI (can't call most of the others cold air intakes actually) and you get to keep your fog lights .

They're also on sale right now, I think $279 delivered to your door from LAPD. That's a GREAT price, about $50-$75 off what you'd typically pay for it. If you don't know much about the Vararam do some searching here in the forums and check out their website.

I wouldn't recommend this, as your engine bay will get very dirty, very quickly. You can make the screen somewhat larger than I did, however.
