Hey all, I just got a set of 1 3/4" ARH with a catted X-pipe installed on my 04 Z06 and all throughout the rpm range I hear a light fluttering noise. Is this normal or did the installer not tighten something right? Thank you in advance.

I've got the same system (about 3 months old) and know exactly what your referring to (sounds like a loose baffle or something). So I'm all ears on this as well. My guess, without getting it in the air on a lift is the short springs that I believe the X pipe hangs on may be the culprits.
The fluttering I'm referring to is more of an "air escaping" sound rather something mechanical as I'd imagine the springs would cause. I'm really not sure to be quiet honest but its getting on my nerves since the shop where I got it done is a two hour drive. I hear it over the hum of the exhaust at all rpm's while accelerating and it sounds like its coming from the front.
I dont know if its me,but install mine two weeks ago and i heard that right off the bat.Check all youe bolts.I did,and everything was tight, but still have the noise. Its not real bad,its real faint.Mabey its just me........
If you have a leak you will usually see some black carbon around the location it is leaking, whether it is a clamp or a small hole.
I just installed my ARH's and had a similar issue and found a small pinhole in x pipe. A touch with a MIG and fixed.
Note: I am really impressed overall with the quality, fit and definitely performance increase I have seen with ARH's over other system's. Nick is also a great guy to work with if you need a custom setup. He helped me make some length and tubing size decisions with my system and I thought he may have been off base a little till I put it on the dyno. I was
wrong and he was right on.
If you have a leak from the exhaust flange it will sound more like a "tick" then a fluttering noise. I dont have ARH but as i know with all headers when they are loose they are annoying! It may be just the design of the header if everyone with these headers experiences the noise.
Check the flange union at the bottom of the header itself.......mine was a little loose and had an almost squeaking sort of noise. Tightened and all is well.
