How are the Edelbrock IAS shocks? My vehicle is lowered on stock bolts. Currently have Bilstein sports which I hate and I dont feel like shelling out $650 for the Koni FSD's. Anybody have these shocks? Tell me about them.
I wish I could tell you, I have a set in the garage I bought for the vette that are waiting with some other mods till I get off overtime. I have Z06 shocks and sway bars on now and I want a better ride. I used the edelbrocks on a S10 Blazer I had before and I liked what it did for it. Got mine at Ecklers.
The Edelbrocks are around $150 a shock or did you find them cheaper? I haven't read anything about them here. But at $150 each they come out to about the same as the Koni's.
I saw a listing for a Monroe shock too but never read anything about them either. They were pretty cheap.
You could also try the Bilstein HD shocks which are reported to be softer than the sports.
What exactly are you looking for? Just a smoother ride?
The C6Z's were a huge improvement in the ride and handling of my car. But then the old shocks were junk. $250 for a set of 4. They are about 1/2" shorter compressed then the stockers. My car is lowered with front lowering bolts. I haven't bottomed out yet and the ride is firm but I don't find it harsh at all. It even seems to ride smoother than my S10 rides and the S10 is sprung pretty soft.
I don't know of any other shocks in a price range lower than the Koni's. Shocks are a pretty personal thing. Everyone feels differently about them.
Installed a pair of Edelbrock shocks to help with an irritating harshness on several sections of interstate I use from time to time (the easternmost 100 miles of the PA Turnpike for one). I had already lost the runflats, which helped a little. The Edelbrocks transformed the car for me:
Drastically reduced noise and impact of small road surface
imperfections like expansion strips, some of which aren't
visible.
Reduced sidestepping on bumpy curves like exit ramps.
Reduced a mild wallow in the rear.
In fact I liked the Edelbrocks so much I put a pair on my 96 Impala SS, where they also are doing well. About 30,000 on the Corvette and 40,000 on the SS.
The car is not drag or road raced, so I can't comment on those types of use.
