Default Brake master cylinder question?

I have been noticing I am losing a small small amount of fluid out of my master cylinder reservoir. So I think I have isolated the problem to the cap. I took the cap off removed the rubber gasket and put gasket maker around the like bulge of the rubber gasket and put it back in the cap and back put it back on the reservoir and topped it off. I was driving and the brakes feel better since it was between min and max before fluid wise so its got full fluid. I feel like it has better stopping power. Is this "gasket maker fix" safe for the brake system? I could have got away just driving it as it was but I wanted to be safe since brakes are important. Let me know guys thanks!

I think I would have gotten a new cap myself. Can't say either way about any compatability issues, but it is not a chance that I would take.

yeah like I am just concerned that its letting the brakes build up too much pressure but is that a problem in this case or is that kinda like a misconception. Because if it works it works either way cant argue it you know?

The change in brake performance is in your head.

I would have tried a new cap and or gasket.
