Sort throw install...PLEASE HELP!

ok.....putting in a hurst short throw. ive got the shifter installed...still really playing around with the springs...still seems kinda tight going side to side with the stick. Also...the black rubber gasket that goes around the factory shifter and bolts down with the 10mm nuts.....according to hurst im sapost to leave that right off.......i dunno...i dont feel to to good on that one....has anyone cut the gasket so it fits around the hurst or any brand short throw?......i would just feel better having something covering up the hole so no debris falls down there.

i just cut the hard ring off that went around the old shifter and used some elbow grease to stretch the rubber over the base of the hurst, nice tight seal

B&M shifter here - During the installation it seemed ridiculously tight but once I started driving it seemed to be much easier to shift. (no explanation why though)
