The tranny and differential are in the rear of the car.
Are you having problems shifting gears?
Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be when your car acts up!

Its nothing forward of the rear of the toque tube, or even forward of the input shaft in the tranny for that matter as it all spins when the clutch is out in neutral.
But we can guess all day long. Get it home, print out Dopes clutch install directions, and instead of removing the entire torque tube, split the tranny off the rear of the TT and then split it off the diff and see whats buggered up.
Not a clutch, or throwout bearing, or torque tube bushing, its something in the output side of the tranny(bearing, broken shaft, or mangled gear).
Its a corvette it will be expensive, sorry.
Im fine with the labor but the OEM Clutch kit is costing $545. Can i find a better deal online? if so please help me out
Your initial description (including your own gut feeling) is that it is not the clutch ...... but now you're willing to pay some shop $1500 to replace the clutch ????
Here's what I want you to do ........
Start engine. Put transmission in neutral. take your feet OFF the pedals. That is, the clutch is engaged, but with the car in neutral it won't go anywhere. Now slowly accelerate the engine to ... say 3000 RPM. Does the noise appear ????
Reduce engine speed to idle ..... step on clutch peddle ..... KEEP CAR IN NEUTRAL gear ...... raise engine RPM to 3000 and release clutch pedal (since you're in NEUTRAL the car won't move) ...... Does the noise appear ???
If the answer is NO to both scenarios .... your problem is in the transmission or differential ..... you most likely don't have a clutch problem, and your earlier posts seem to support this.
I'd be VERY cautious if a sop says you have a clutch problem based on what you posted before ..... get them to agree to FIX the problem for $1,500 regardless of whether it is the clutch, transmission, or differentail (or even all three) and you have a deal. Otherwise ...... look for another shop.
If it helps .... with the gearbox in NEUTRAL ..... with the clutch pedal to the floor and the engine running ..... the ONLY parts that are spinning are the engine and clutch assembly. The prop shaft (inside the torque tube) to the rear end is standing still, as is the input shaft to the tranny. With the gearbox in NEUTRAL and the clutch pedal untouched (clutch engaged) .... you are spinning the engine, clutch, drive shaft (prop shaft) and input shaft to the gearbox.
If you aren't hearing noises with the gearbox in NEUTRAL your problem is MOST LIKELY in the gearbox or differential.
Then get them to agree to FIX the problem for $1,500 regardless of whether it is the clutch, transmission, or differentail (or even all three) and you have a deal. Otherwise ...... look for another shop.
If you broke something in the clutch you would hear noise in NEUTRAL ... or you'd have clutch slip. Sure sounds to me like something in the diff or tranny .... does the noise appear to be coming from the rear of the car ..... or from under your feet ????
