Only had mine for 4 months, but am really impressed with the power they can make. Andy stopped at 582 RWHP until I get the tranny beefed up and he said there was a lot left on the table.
whats your opinion on vortech superchargers ,good or bad . thanks
I've owned three of them (SC-trim, T-trim, and a YSi). They worked flawlessly and Vortech's customer service is 1st class. I think they're a very good company to do business with.
I have had R-trim, T-trim, YS-trim, YSI-trim Versions on my Mustang GT(Yes I am a Blue Oval guy with a 99 C5, 87 GN, and a 70 Nova). I have had excellent results with every unit. Last was 830 rwhp out of 306 cubes. CAN'T GO WRONG WITH VORTECH!!
Remember that these are Reverse Rotation Head Units (The blower is backwards). On these kits, if you have a problem with belt or it breaks, you're stuck. My last straw with my Cobra was when the belt snapped during a burnout leaving me stranded. The only way to replace the belt was to unbolt the head unit. That is the one thing that I do not like about these systems.
But...ECS (East Coast Supercharging) makes a Centri Blower kit and their bracket is made in such a way that if you need to change belts or replace a belt, they have a device that locks the Idler in place and allows you to slip the belt on.
If I were going to do the Centri again with my C5, this is the route I would go. Trust me, you will have belt issues at one point or another.
Call ECS and talk with them and they can expand on this for you.
do prochargers have this issue if the belt breaks?
oh and i was referring to the new v3 as being only for the c6.
They all do. Because of the way you have to mount the blower (with the pulley facing the motor) most systems will have this challenge. The ECS kit I was mentioning, has their bracket designed a certain way to do belt changes and replacements.
Also, the ECS kit uses the Paxton Head Units...They're the exact same blower as the Vortechs (they're owned by Vortech).
i wholeheartedly support Vortech. i have been running a unit i bought used and have had no problems whatsoever for the last 4 years. no belt issues, no drivability issues, etc. (V1 S trim, 10lbs)

They are owned by Vortech, but not the same blowers. I just bought a Vortech Ysi for my C5 408 motor and spoke with the Technical dept about this very thing. What he told me is that the Vortech Ysi is a newer design than the Novi and even though the Novi was a great and reliable unit, the Ysi internals made it a better blower. That and the fact that it's capable of making 200 more horsepower! For the record, I ordered mine from A&A. I don't think you can go wrong if you get the A&A or ECS. Great customer service with each and great designs for their systems. If you go with Vortech, you'll have to get it from A&A. ECS is Paxton.

Who said anything about the YSi? Yes the YSi is a new model thats been out for a few years, but jdmvette was asking about Vortechs in general and I was telling him that the ECS Blowers (that use Paxton) are the same blowers as the Vortech Units from Vortech. Talk with Frank, or Mike Reagan from Vortech and they will say the same thing. You can swap blower units from the S-Trim all the way up to the YSi using the same Blower Brackets. I've done it. I've owned the S,T, and the YSi Blowers.
The Paxton Novi 1000 is the equivalent as a Vortech S-Trim
The Novi 2000 is the equivalent as the Vortech T-Trim
The Novi 2200 is the equivalent of the Vortech JT-Trim
Bottom line is...either way jdmvette goes, he going to be backed by a great company and have an excellent blower.

I am saying something about the Ysi. And who asked about Paxtons? Read the title. Just because they can be interchanged doesn't mean they're the "same". If they're interchangeable then you should say that. I am telling you that they told me the drive units are internally different. I'm not talking about whether it fits in any bracket. I just sent an e-mail to them for a second confirmation of what I was told.
You're right that they're both excellent blowers.
