Finally took the car to the track today at Bradenton. Bone stock '01 coupe, A4 w/ 2.73's.
First run was the best:
60': 2.025
330: 5.737
1/8: 8.737
MPH: 82.89
1000: 11.283
1/4: 13.416
MPH: 104.52
I immediately backed that up with 13.471 @ 104.08.
After that it was downhill the rest of the day. Two more runs at 13.6 @ 103 and finished the day with a 13.7 @ 102.
I tried launching from 2000, 1500, 1000, and just punching it from idle. All netted almost identical 60' times, all 2.0x. 2000 and 1500 squealed the tires briefly at launch but obviously no one method seemed better than another.
All in all I am pretty happy with the 13.41, seems like a decent run for the slowest version of the C5 bone stock. Although I am a little frustrated with the progressive slowing through the day. Maybe the heat got to me...

A very decent run....Congrats! The track is a blast, isn't it?
I'm kinda suprised you got slower as the day rolled on. Normally I get better trap speeds as the night rolls in because of the temp. change. FYI, you need to find the water hose equipped cool-off area. You can hose down the engine and get the temps down between runs real quickly. And, from my experience, the colder the engine is after it's been warmed up(oil temp. 150+) the better it runs at the strip. Another way help the engine stay cool is to have the A/C compressor running while you're staging. Both fans will be on.
now the real fun begins, getting lower ETs...there are many of us in the area that get down to Bradenton....couldn't make it yesterday cause I was paying for the fun we had on Saturday :D
we're getting together again this Saturday and you're more than welcome to come join us :D:D:D
Are we seeing the making of another "Drag Strip Junkie"? :D
More MODS = Faster times. More $$ = MODS, Faster times = :jester .
How Fast do You Want To Go!
Now that you have a base line for your car, you can work on getting the most performance out of whatever combination you have and I have found the guys on this Forum are always willing to help solve any problems or make suggestions for improvements. Have Fun!
Great times man, that seems to always happen to me, I'll get my best run on my first pass. I think it is because the whole way to the track I think about what I am going to do, then after my first pass I start to think of what I should do different
Hey,
i was there yesaterday, my first time ever at a track....I pulled a 13.7, but had a 225lb passenger in the car with me, so, I was happy! I had a second run, but I was lined up against a 2002 Z06 and got over zealouse with the launch, had massave clutch slip! arrrgh, I wanted him, too! :smash:
