Default PS pump chirping

I seem to have narrowed my underhood chirp/squeal down to the PS pump using one of those amplified stethoscope things.

Question- is it possible to replace a bearing or whatever is wearing out/squeaking/chirping in this thing? Rebuild kits?

If not, what's a good source for pumps?

Thanks all,

Jay

Default PS pump noise

Anybody? Would like to rebuild it if that's possible.

Thanks!

Make sure it is the PS pump. It is a PIA to remove the pump and re-install including removing the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve which means you have to use bleed the brakes and use a Tech 2 to bleed the BPMV once you are done with the power steering install/bleed. It may be better to go with a new unit Vs rebuilding.

You DO NOT need to remove the ABS assy in order to remove the PS pump. You only need to remove the bracket that it is mounted to. PS pump can be out in less than 1 hour. You will need a set of "gear" wrenches.
