What do the Ripper stops look like?
Since I haven't seen them myself, if I wanted to ask a mechanic to remove them, what should I tell him to look for so he knows what I'm talking about? Bolts & nuts? Where?
Re: Please help describe B&M Ripper Stops? (MelloYellow)
The new ripper does not have stops. It's just the frame of the base that acts as a stop. I've heard that earlier rippers had adjustable stops, but I have not seen one.

Thanks, I may just order a new one for now as we're troubleshooting the stock linkage and lower stock shifter. I know the dealer may blame the B&M, LOL... even tho there aren't many parts to fail.
Can anyone compare no stops on the new one? I think I have an older one from 1.5 yrs ago with stops.
Re: Please help describe B&M Ripper Stops? (MelloYellow)
When I installed the ripper on my 98 I didn´t adjust the stops.
So I had no rattle that others had that adjusted them.
The new ones don´t have the stops, eh? Well if you don´t need them.
Re: Please help describe B&M Ripper Stops? (Austrian Vette)
Mine is about one year old and did come with the stops and a bulletin that said to ignore them. I consequently removed them and it has shifted just fine from the get/go. I do however have some tranny noise that travels up the shifter. While I have used Dynomat, the end result is a far superior shifting mechanism that is a little noisier than the stock unit. Well worth the trade IMHO.

Are the stops contained inside the shifter? Are they in the base?
I'm going to take out my old Ripper and put in a new one without stops. I believe my problem is with the linkage setup and the lower part of the stock shifting cradle/gate below the Ripper, but I want to rule it out and want to make sure the stops are gone.
Just rebuilt the tranny and I don't want any stops damaging the new synchros.

Remove the rubber boots and look at the base of the ripper... at 12 o'clock and at 6 o'clock there will be bolts if your Ripper has the stops.. if not there will be threaded bolt holes.. just back those puppys out and toss them if they are there... there is no difference between a 1.5 year old Ripper and a newer one... don't waste your $$$$.

XmentalPilot is right. No need to buy another shifter just remove the
stops if they are there at all. They are just set screws held by lock nuts.
You can see them , in the photo, on each side of the blue base.
Whenever I bought my ripper (8mo ago at COH) they had four on the shelf.
Two with set screw stops, one drilled and tapped for but not including the
stops and the one I bought with no provision for stops at all.
Re: Please help describe B&M Ripper Stops? (MySea5)
Thanks Guys! FWIW, the new one doesn't have ANY stops at 6' or 12'. They are gone. Going to RMA my 1st one back to B&M, then sell it used at a great price. They may send me a new one.
Bought it so that the dealer can't blame the linkage on my shifter. I have a problem with the lower shift cradle/gate below the B&M and I need to have it replaced.
