Anyone else ever run into this problem?
Do a search on here, lotsa info.
Here's one http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...t=tps+re-learn

These are the ones you need with Gene Culleys prices:
97-2000 Sensors
10438853 - sensor – 91.91 each
15234846 - nuts – 3.43 each

I have a brand new (from Gene) sensor in my left front wheel, Ive been trying to reprogram with my speaker magnet to no avail.
So i tried skipping to the Right Front wheel and it worked, then proceeded to Right Rear and Left Rear, which all worked.
I had to sensor put in last november right before storage time.
How can I make sure that brand new sensor is buggered up before I contact Gene?
Any Ideas??? Thanks.

The tester "wakes up" the sensor and then displays what the sensor is transmitting .... for the Corvette system it is the sensor serial number and the absolute tire pressure. The tester is the easiest way to validate a sensor.
NOTE: When a sensor is installed care must be taken not to overtighten the mounting nut. If it is overtightened the sensor will fail.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I would just break the bead on the LR tire, remove the sensor, and try to train the sensor out of the wheel first.
Good Luck

Ive only tried the one magnet so far. Ill try and find some others and give it a try.
They're crazy to charge that much when it takes anyone 2 minutes to do themselves.

I'm glad you got it working.

I bought the 1" magnet thinking that I could just drop it over the valve stem, but with the nut on the valve stem it wouldn't fit. DUH! This one should fit. Even if it doesn't, just hold the magnet next to the valve stem.
If you are having trouble programming a sensor try this. With the valve stem in the six o'clock position on the wheel, the battery is to the left of the valve stem and the electronics are to the right of the valve stem. You want to place the magnet on the electronics side, to activate the programming circuit.

So either, they frigged it up when they mounted my tires, or she was buggered from day one.
Anyone know If I can take that sensor (I receipt/invoice from Gene) to my local dealer and get it replaced, if it is not damaged?

More likely, unfortunately, the sensor was damaged on install .... either they struck it with a tire "iron" when putting the tire on the wheel, or they overtightened the nut that mounts the sensor ... they should be tightened to no more than 62 inch/lbs.
I'd urge you be present when the sensor is removed from the tire so you can see any obvious damage.
My g/f's Pontiac has sensors. I took it in for a flat repair a couple of months ago. I have the shop sign on the INVOICE that the sensor arrived in working order (I will only use a shop that has a sensor tester) including writing down the serial number it transmitted when they test it. When I pick up the car I have them get the tester out and re-test the sensor ..... shows me the sensor is still working ... and that the tire went back in the correct location on the car.
Good luck, keep us posted ....

My thoughts exactly on the unlikelyhood of Gene sending a 'bad' unit.
Im going to take the wheel/tire off hopefully today and take it back to them, I am going to watch them take the sensor out, and see what happens.
I have a pretty good feeling Im gonna be eatin' this one though, since its been close to 6 months since I had the tires and sensor put on.
Here's the reply I got from Gene- "If after that you have to go to any GMdealer with the receipt and they'll have to warranty it with the copy of theinvoice and they'll have to make up a repair order and have you sign therepair order, etc."
On a side note, when I had the wheel off yesterday I threw it on the balancer........it was nowheres near good to go. Can only assume the rest are the same.

.... and by the way .... what gives you the right to live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet ??? AND drive a Corvette .... you freakin lucky bastard
) when something as seemingly simple as balancing a wheel or installing a TPMS gets screwed up ??????Ridiculous ..... you (and I) are paying hard earned dollars (CAN or US) to places that just don't perform as they should. Maybe we need a "RATE THEM" forum where people can provide feedback on the quality of product/service they purchased for their Corvette.
Please keep us posted on how this works out for you .....

Well, I was born and raised here, but I can tell you it is NOT the price of living that keeps me here!!!
Or the price of everything else for that matter.
I know, you'd think getting a set of 4 tires mounted and balanced is one of the more simple tasks to accomplish. Apparently it isnt.
I never got the chance today to take the wheel off. (It was just too damn beautiful out and i wanted the vette for cruisin'
......28celsius yesterday 25 today..damn.)One of the many reasons why I decided I should go for an auto mech certificate.(Im doing first year now).
Oh, The place I went to was Fountain Tire, Im not sure if they are national or not.
Id take the tire of the wheel at school but we only have the older crappy machines that'll ding up my wheel, so I have to take it in to get it de-mounted, unfortunately.
