hey all,
i am thinking about venturing into unknown territory here - drag radials.
ok, first question is my car has about 450hp at the wheels and the michelin pilot sports i have now spin without difficulty. so i am thinking about getting something that grabs more - hence drag radials (since i have been told these are a performce street tire and wont stick more unless i go drag radials). Ok so i want to handle in the corners and take off the line without spin. so should i put drag radials on all four corners or just the rears?
second question is what size should i get. i have stock sized wheels as it is now and when i look on tire rack or discount tire i dont see the stock sizing. please let me know. thanks!
The reason I don't recommend BFG's which will stick better is because you specified that you want decent handling characteristics and BFG's don't handle very well. I have them on my car with 520rwhp and they hook awesome. They just don't handle well. The nitto's should last longer too.

Strange, I have the opposite issue. I'm running KDWII all the way around. They grip fairly well for gobs of rwtq, but handling is very good on mine.
275x18 up front and 295x19 out back.

simpleman - how much hp are you running?
also kdwII are bfg's?
also, to both simpleman and blownbluez06, i am looking for handling like i had in my m3. my 2005 m3 handled like it was on rails. i took the cloverleaf off ramp on i-10 at 65-80 mph without even a twitch
my car seems to do ok at 45-60 but it still feels a little squirrelly to me. not sure if it is the tires or what. i want stick and grip!

~500 and 450 tq to the ground.
Yes KDW's are BFG's but not drag radials. Very good traction in dry or wet. (Hence the DW, dry/wet)

I would also consider suspension wear and tear. If you don't have Z51 suspension, the stock set-up is very mushy. I replaced mine with Z06 springs/sways. The M series Beemers handle extremely well, but older models benefitted from additional weight. The Germans do it right. My stockers and Bilsteins wore out quicker than I thought. Just got new ones this week.

Reason: additional thought
