Column lock quandry
Just removing the locking plate still puts us at risk for the dreaded "remove key.." scenario does it not?
Now....one must keep in mind that my goal is two fold
1. Make sure we will not get stranded one day with a column lock issue
2. Keep peace within the family as she has been ulimately supportive with the aquisition of my dream car.
What to do folks?

Only safe way to do this, IMHO, is a CLB.
2. Keep peace within the family as she has been ulimately supportive with the aquisition of my dream car.
I know even less about this than I do about Vettes(twice divorced). Couple of thoughts here:
Install the CLB and don't tell her.
Insist she always rides with you so when it fails you'll have company while waiting on the tow truck.
If you're gutsy, you can even use that time to say "I told you so!"

I think Plasticfan pretty much hit the nail on the head .....
And I'm divorced so don't expect any hints on "marital bliss" from me either .....
"happily married" is an oxymoron .... just like "postal service" .....
