Default 23.8 mpg!

Hadn't checked my avg gas mileage in some time, so, during a drive thru hilly mountainous area(all 4 lanes)keeping it on cruise as much as possible, and at 60mph, was shocked that i was able to get 23.8 mpg. There was some stop and go, but not too much. Car originally got about 28-29 mpg...however, it's now rather modified. I think on flatter terrain just maybe i can get between 24 & 25...now that's saying something in my book...641rwh/553ftlbtq!!! Vettes r the bomb

There's just something incredible about making that much power and getting that kind of gas mileage. I check my mileage by calculation and find that the gauge is never correct though. Next time you fill up your tank, calculate your mileage and see how correct it is. I'll be you'll be surprised!

Took about a 250 mile run down thru the hills to Payson a few weekends ago-2 lane roads with lots of curves and up and downs- filled up when we got back and got a little over 26 running anywhere from 60-80. Would certainly go way down with a heavy foot.

I still love the look of disbelief on people's faces when they snicker and say, "hows that on your wallet for gas". Then I tell them I get close to thirty miles to the gallon and they laugh harder.

My '99 with a small cam, intake, and full exhaust has 70 more rwhp than stock but still gets 26 mpg on my 100 mile round trip to work. I knock down >30 mpg @ 70 mph on straight, flat interstate runs. The terrain and number of stops takes a toll on the mileage though.

I can average 32.5 on flat highways with my MN6 with every single bolt on mod including long tube headers and cruise control off since I can drive the car more economically. Thats pretty good if I do say so myself.

Maybe the last tank of gasoline you got was 10% alcohol. That'll just kill your mileage.

Our club did an economy run last fall and my highly modified 2000 C5 ( 475HP) running 10% Ethanol averaged 34 mpg over about a 100 mile loop.
Of course I used every trick I knew to achieve that, such as: coasting down hills with engine off, going 45 mph on the Interstate, etc. People were giving me strange #1 hand signs as they went by LOL.

On my car (and others have agreed)the DIC "average mpg" is between1-1 1/2 mpg happy. It's an old habit (firs car was a 59 vw bug, they had no gas gauge)and I calculate every tank for MPG,and regardless of type of driving still about a mile and a half lower than DIC average. Still i am very pleased with mine,, between 20-22 city/suburban type and 29 on my only mostly highway!

Amazingly, with long tubes and a Honker plus some minor other things, I can still get 30+ on the highway. People always think I'm lying when I say that. I tell them I drive my car to work because it's my economy car and gets better mileage than my wife's Audi.

2 weeks ago my wife and I took a 3100 mile road trip to yellowstone national park, my 2000 mn6 has long tubes, xpipe and bullets, along with the 42 lb injectors still from the previous owners SC setup that isnt on it anymore, and my DIC registered at 30.3 mpg when i got home, and they have some crappy gas out there, usually the highest is 91 sometimes only 90!!!! And that was through 2 sets of mountains!

I calculated my gas milage today. With a mix of highway and city it came out to be 20.75 mpg. The DIC showed 21.7. Not the greatest but good for a badass sportscar. I have a pretty heavy foot though.

The track that I run at is a 180 mile round trip(90 each way).I average 29 mpg on the trip and run 11.4xx @121.xx on the track.Only change I make is to lower the rear tire pressure. That IMHO is" having your cake and eat it".

Anybody ever notice that at speed you open the popup headlights and on cruise in the Arizona desert it knocks 2 to 3 mpg off the instantaneous mileage. I changed to flush headlights. Looks cool and saves gas.
