Nice work. I did something very similar in my 98. About the only thing I didn't do was setup internet access. That pc is cool, I wish I had found that when I did it. I used a standard motherboard, minus that case. One suggestion. I found a programable IR reciever w/CC remote that connected to a serial port, it could control just about everything. Then I had a wireless keyboard as backup.
98 is gone for an 01. The PC is in me Jeep. I doubt I would do it again in the vette, it was just to intrusive for my taste. Now I am just looking for a good MP3 solution. Let me know if you have any ideas.
I loaned a friend of mine my IRMAN a while back and am trying to get it back. It can be programmed to control just about anything in Windows. I plan on using it.
I have one of the those mouse touchpad things. I just bought the pointer joby in that picture today. It's actually pretty cool because you can hold it in your hand.
Interesting project. I just began the process of spec'ing a system for my C5 as well. Clarion has about to release a product which provides a head unit and lcd unit. The head unit includes the standard AM/FM/CD functions, but also has an onboard Pentium Computer to drive the LCD, will run windows, play DVD's, and INCLUDES a full NAV system as well. Nice package! and will probably find a home in my C5 very soon after it is available.
Where did you get the cable to connect your cell phone
to your computer? ( I want to have internet acces when I'm at the strip through me laptop)
I thought about the Clarion Joyride. It's more money and in the end its Windows CE and is not too upgradable. Very cool though. I wanted the ability to also run Autotap and LS1Edit (if it ever comes out) in the car without a separate laptop.
Sweet. Post the pics when you have the rest cleaned up. Elo Touch Systems also makes great touch screens, if you decide check them out http://www.elotouchsystems.com Excellent work!
