I kept the coil packs,Delco Iridium (I gapped .040 For my 2000)And I used MSD wires, mainly because they were available on short notice. Really woke the car up. MSD some love them some hate them ,for me so far so good. GM reds also good I'm told.
There really is no reason to change the coils unless you're having a problem. I've used MSD wires with no complaints. At your mileage any plug is going to make an improvement. I've used Bosch +4's with success.
I'm getting ready to do a tune up on my 99 C5. What plugs & coil packs have you guys been having good luck with?
Here's what are the "recommended" parts by GM .....
Spark Plugs ... AC Delco 41-985 (they come correctly pre-gapped at 0.040 inches)
Spark Plug wires ... GM Performance Parts kit (GMPP) part number 12495519 (all 8 wires in the kit - wires are red)
Your coils are fine ....
I'd also recommend you replace the serpentine belt and the A/C drive belt if they haven't been done in the last couple or 3 years.
