Default I ditched my run-flats

Folks, I just bought a 2003 Corvette coupe with 4000 miles on it, purchased from an older guy who just drove it on nice days; kept it garaged. Naturally, with that mileage, it still had its original Goodyear Eagle F1 run-flats on it, in un-worn condition. I had heard negative things about the run-flats so decided to try another tire. I drive fairly hard but don't need a super-performance tire, so started looking around. Finally decided on BF Goodrich g-force Super Sport All-Season tires, as their price was reasonable and reviews were positive. I haven't had them on the car long--only a couple hundred miles--so I can't speak to wear, but I am very favorably impressed. The ride is much less harsh and the cabin road noise level is substantially reduced. The BF Goodrich tires also weigh between 4 and 5 pounds less per tire, and since that is unsprung weight it is fairly substantial.

Congratulations on your great find! You got yourself a nearly new car.

I got rid of the run flats too.It made a big difference in noise reduction.

Good move, run-flats provide a measure of convenience but are a compromise with performance. Plus, as you said there is a significant weight savings. Never clearly verified it, but folks on the forum say that even with low miles, the tires harden with age further adversely affecting performance and road noise. Congrats on the coupe, good find.
