Sorry for the mess up in my typing.. I guess I was figuring that sense we were in a C5 forum the guy would know I was talking about any C5 model with T/C. It was late at night when i posted, sorry.
Nothing special like this. Once the engine is turned off the EBCM loses power and does not remember what mode it was set to before.
Bill
Actually you are wrong.
I just went out to the parking lot to test this, as I thought I might have been seeing things
Start car, turn on Competetive Mode, reset DIC message, shut car off. Pulled key, opened and closed door and armed alarm. Got back in the car, started it and it said " Trac/Actv Hndl On".
So the car is smart enough to remind you that it is now on, because the last time the car was running the TC was off.
of course... at the posted speedlimit per forum guidelines
Oh, absolutely ... my Vette has never been faster than 65 on the freeway ..... and I have a fantastic deal on the Golden Gate Bridge ... deal ends at midnight so hurry and bid soon, and bid high .....
My '04Z doesn't remind me when I get back in the car that TC / AH are enabled again. Doesn't matter if I run in Competitive or with everything off. Once I turn the car off and turn it back on, it assumes I KNOW everything is back on because the TC light is off and it doesn't display COMPETITIVE DRIVING on the DIC. No reminders at all.

No, he's right. What he was saying is that if you are in Competitve Driving (Traction Control off and Active Handling on), and turn the car off, it will automatically reset (default) to Traction Control on and Active Handling on, when restarted. That's exactly what you said your car says when you restart it.
Ed
Yeah, what I am saying is that the car displays the fact that the traction control and active handling are on , on the DIC when you start it. It only does this if you had it off when you turned the car off.

Right, so what it is telling you is that your settings have been changed back to default and if you want to turn on comp mode you will have to do it again..
