ok this is the car a 98 m6 c5, has corsa x-pipe with b+b exhuast. blackwing, ported throttle body. ls6 intake, oil pump will be installed at the same time as cam. no headers but will get them if needed, i see alot of argument for the 2k they cost to what you get out of them, maybe just a smaller cam? keeping stock heads. i will do new pushrods and springs, still havent decided single or double springs, alot of hype there also. thinking about 228r from tsr but to big for no headers so 224 or ??? im confused. help and advice.. need cam tuner in south florida just moved down here? thanks for input .
i dont think theres a cam thats 'to big' for headers. the 224 and 228 arent exactly 'huge' either.
your just not going to see the gains you would with a more free flowing header on the bigger cam.
should'nt have to pay close to 2k for headers. since you allready have an X, should be able to find some used LG or kooks for >800$.
the double springs are needed for the high lift of bigger cams, i see most require them on cams up in the .600 lift range and up.
no hype there.
theres a good lsX shop in Tampa, cant remember it for the life of me, but they are members here, and IIRC, isnt jeremy formato in Fl. too?
i guess im asking what cam to use with stock heads and stock manifolds? then what cam for same thing with headers? I want it to sound bumpy, but still have some reliabilty? I was saying 2k for install also of headers, a shop here has AR headers with no cats x-pipe for 1595 installed? i thought it needs a tune for headers right?
I was pondering the same thing and broke down and ordered some Lg Streets for under a grand. My cam is a 228/232 598/598 I just felt like I was leaving too much on the table without them. My headers will be here on the 4th of June, then my cam springs etc will be going in.
