Re: Has anyone NOT had the fuel sender problem? (Schwa72)
I haven't had any problems (yet!) coming up on 24k in my 99. I wonder if there is any common thread in those that have had problems. For instance, did most run the tank below 1/4 regularly? About climate...is this happening more to cold weather locales? So far, it just seems to span all models, mileages and years and is just luck of the draw. wierd.

I never should have said anything...I need to retract my earlier post, last night when I parked my fuel guage read a little under 1/4 tank, this morning when I started the car the reserve fuel message was on the dic :mad :mad :mad I really think it's time to put this car through the showroom window of the dealer.......maybe I'll get a new one faster that way

I had the no gas syndrome last week for the first time. 4900 miles on my 2001. I had just under a half a tank. Next time i used it, it said I had 1/4 tank. I didn't use that much gas. I have since filled the tank and it seems to be reading OK. This gripe has been added to my shopping list of warranty repairs. I shudder when I think about taking my baby to the dealer.
Re: Has anyone NOT had the fuel sender problem? (Schwa72)
Update for Whip383 and others. I got my car back from the dealer yesterday. they replaced the senders in each tank per bulletin #01-06-04-022. I had taken a copy of the bulletin description of the problem with me and told them that it described what was happening perfectly. GMPP covered to the deductible I have. They said the cost without GMPP was around $800.00. Gauge now reads right when tank is full, which it did not after the problem started. Time will tell if the problem remains fixed.
Re: Has anyone NOT had the fuel sender problem? (Schwa72)
I have had a problem twice. First while traveling to a indor show, I monitored my fuel so I would be below 1/4 tank when I arrived. Some distance out from New Orleans I fuled up to 1/2 tank, while on the highway the fuel indicator didn't move, I thought I over fuled and would have to burn some off. As we neared New Orleans and slowed down the guage started moving, faster than normal. It turned out I had to add more before we arrived. The second time occured while driving home from work. I had a little less than 1/2 tank, about 1 mile away from the office the guage went to zero and the low fuel light came on. When I got home I turned it off and back on but it still stayed at 0. The next morning it was OK. I need to take it to the dealer to look at it.

Just happened to me recently while on a 1700 mile xmas trip. Gauge at 1/4 level while driving along and then it drops to zero and I get a "Check gages".
Stayed that way until I stopped for gas and filled her up....no problem on restart. 8300 miles.
Re: Has anyone NOT had the fuel sender problem? (JQUEST)
Mine was fine for about 32000 miles then it happened. Called the dealership, they had it out the next day with no hassles. All in all, one of the better dealership experiences I've had.
I tend to think they're not going to argue too much when you're dealing with the fuel system :)
