I've read so many posts about erratic fuel gauge problems that I'm convinced it's a virtual certainty that I'm going to run into this issue with my '01 coupe. Has anyone not had fuel gauge problems after owning their Vette for a while?

I think I may have had the problem this morning. I had a bit less than a 1/4 of a tank last night and this morning the low fuel light went on and the gauge was in the red. I was able to make it to the gas station and AFTER filling it the reserve fuel message appeared. The gauge remained on empty until I pulled into my spot at work. It went to full but still gave me a low fuel message. Not sure if this is normal for a low tank

Had my 2001 for 18 months and 17 K miles without a problem. You see all the problems on the forum, but never hear about the thousands of cars without problems. Don't worry and enjoy !!

I'm not sure if I'm having a problem or not. My guage does tend to fluxuate about an 1/8 of a tank back and forth sometimes. But its never suddenly gone to empty. I have a little over 8K miles so far.
As far as a previous post suggesting you shouldn't be concerned, I would respectfully disagree. Anything that has a TSB out on it you have every right to be a little concerned.

By "fuel sender" are you refering to the fuel transfer pump. I just got bit by this one. Stalled on the freeway during morning commute. Gauge said 1/4 tank but one of the split tanks eas empty. Had to get a flatbed to the dealer. PITA. Took a week+ to replace.

Schwa72,
When I bought my C5, I found statistics (carpoint/edmunds/CU) that said this problem was the #1 C5 failure, but still only affected about 16% of the vehicles.
Seems like something they should ahve figured out already. Go figure. :)
Re: Has anyone NOT had the fuel sender problem? (Schwa72)
Yes I have the fuel gauge problem, fill up and about 40 or so miles of driving the gauge drops to zero, the low fuel message comes on, check gauges light comes on. sometimes it comes back to normal in 20 min or so, normally if the car sits like when im at work everything returns to normal when i head home. Not sure what the cause could be dont see how topping off would cause it.
