I have just encountered the fuel gauge issues that have been reported in many different postings through-out the Forum. Is Techtron available in Canada, if so where? If not, is there a suitable alternative that other Canada Corvette owners have discovered?
Techron is impossible to find in Canada. Trust me I tried everywhere, napa, walmart, canadian tire, parts source, automotive warehouse. None of them have it. Go to your local chevy dealership and ask them for the GM fuel additive. I ran one bottle and it solved the problem. It cost me 20 bucks.
If you can find Redline Complete Fuel System Cleaner it's a good alternative and is not harsh. I've used this product pratically once a year and no issues.
Thanks to all for the advise...I am using Sunoco 94 as the fuel, although I just bought this car, have only run two tanks, not sure what was previously used. I did locate BG44K in Oakville at $26 for 11oz. I must say, after 20kms, I am noticing a positive difference, or maybe I just want to notice !!
Forget Techron, especially if you can't find it easily in Canada, and BG 44K, which works better than Techron but not so much better that it justifies the high price.
Instead, use one of the Protex line of additives available from Bardahl (the Protex division is actually headquartered in Canada and generally available up there). It's coming to the US soon, and from what I learned at SEMA 2007 and discovered using some samples of their 44K and MOA equivalent in my Z06, it kicks BG's *** with both price and performance.
