Getting ready to install ls6 02' heads and intake on my ls1 99 frc. Questions arise: reccomended head gasket thickness, whether my dic will throw codes because there is no egr provisions on the ls6 intake. Also, what would you reccomend with this setup as far as a cam? Mainly street use with occasional track time. In the plans are also borla long tube headers/this combination is with a 6 speed and 342 gears. Would like to see low 12's.
I just added ls6 heads ,intake ,shorty headers, and yella terra 1.8 rockers on a 2000 auto.I used stock gm mls gaskets and head bolts.I picked up hp and tq all across the board with peak being 45hp and 37 tq.There is a dyno graph up in dyno section good luck

My original mod was heads/cam for my 99 FRC. By the way C5 NEVER used EGR. Anyway, I had stage I LS1 heads and a B1 cam (221/221 .559/.559 114 LSA) with Kooks headers and Stingers made 392/376 at the wheels. Idle and drivability was excellent. This combo ran 12.36 @ 118 with 1.83 60FT using BFG drag radials. Oh, I forgot the 4.10 rear. I would say similar combo should yield you low 12's. Good luck!
No C5 has an EGR LS1 or LS6 so you will be fine on that count. The LS6 heads will net you a small gain (20-30hp). You'd be much better off with a ported factory casting (LS1 or LS6) considering the labor involved with swapping heads.
Cam wise something around 230 duration and .580-.600 should be very driveable and make good power. Remember that you will need better springs and new pushrods to go along with the cam.
