Louder then poopie. And sound great like a damn race car at WOT. But other then WOT they sound like crap. They rattle ,crackle, etc. Exhaust need some thing for the sound to hit instead of coming straight out to make a good sound. Straight pips sorta sound like a system with a bunch of holes and loose parts in it. Thats just my two cents. I've had then as well as some of my friends. If you want the loudest vette in town go for it. But there is nothing clean abou them :reddevil

sorry, disagree, have them and love them, but admit it's not for everyone. Sounds louder inside car than it really is. Originally had the straight pipes from a Borla XR-1 on the stock h-pipe. Just installed Magnaflow x-pipe. The "tuned" sound at rpm with the x-pipe is just plain intoxicating. X-pipe cut down the around town rasp & popping. IMO, this is how a real Vette should sound.

Some people find an old C5 exhaust, cut the mufflers loose, and weld on straight extensions for a low cost set of straight pipes. You can try that and hold onto your exhaust in case you don't like it. The pipes would easily sell to some racer type if you decided to dump them.

There is a shop in Tucson that does straight pipes, with resonator tips. It sounds great (wish I didn't have $ in modded B&Bs) and is said not to be too loud at speed. Next time........ :D

Yeah I totally disagree with need4speed. I have been running straight pipes for a while and when I roll up to other Vette Owners the first thing out of most of their mouths is, "what exhaust is that...it sounds killer" or something to that effect. On the other hand conversation is stiffled inside the car, but thats what my stereo is for and most of my friends just want me to go WOT anyway. Truthfully, before I got LT headers my straight pipes were pretty quiet running through the stock headers.

Carpe Dm, I'd like to find out what brand of resonated tips this shop uses. Do you know/can you find out, or provide us the name and # for this shop? Thanks.

I have no cats with bullet mufflers and then an x-pipe to straight pipes and out to my Fast Toys resonator tips. Check out the 1/4 mile link below and hear how it sounds. I love it. Not too loud for the street also.

It's not working.

But then again, maybe it's better that way, my neighbors will be much happier if I keep my stock mufflers on. :cry

Let me put it to you this way, it's a lot quieter than those "look-at-me, ain't I insecure" bass-thumping, mega-distortion stereo buffoons

sorry, just had one of those ignorant punks drive by and rattle the living room windows from their frames.
