Default Ok, need some performance tips.

I've been happy with my '99 with a Vararam for some time but want just a little more out of it. Nothing crazy. I have a Mustang nitrous car that is my drag strip beater. I'm thinking of adding a new mass air housing, throttle body/or ported one, and a diablo programmer. My question is who are the good vendors? Anybody use one of the ported TBs and is it worth it? ....and how well do the programmers work? Thanks guys. Oh and I don't want to go the exhaust rount. I like my vette quite. ;-)

I would not mess with the maf, it will only cause problems. A ported TB will not give you and SOTP feeling IMHO. You are a 99 so I would opt to get a LS6 intake ($300 used), that will give you some power up top that you will feel. I had a Diablo and did not get much gain out of it sotp wise.

I would say none of the above. Save your money for something that will actually give you a performance increase. As already suggested, and LS6 intake would be a good option.

Cool, that sounds like a plan. It already ran a 13.1 @ 110 with an auto I just want a good 12.9.

A (good) dyno tune and a LS6 intake will get you a 12.9 (prob faster) easy, autos get a really good benifit from a dyno tune.

I just found one on the classifieds for $280 shipped. Hoping the guy writes me back fast. Will my stock injectors do fine? How much for a tune?

Thats a really good price, its a direct bolt on intake, you can swap over the injectors, you will need to buy the coolant tubes/plugs ($45). Tunes go anywhere from $300-$500+

Nah I'm not gonna do any exhaust on this one. My auto is just for driving but want a little more out of it. I'm going to get a Yellow 6speed when this one is paid of and go crazy with it.

Swap the exhaust for the stock Z06 setup. It's very tame, and flows better. LS6 intake, and tune.

Nope. The computer will adjust enough to compensate.

Dude,
Your best gains will be from ditching the Stratocaster and picking up a Les Paul!
Moving from a single coil to a double coil is the key!

Pft!! haha Nah I love the warmth of the single coils. I do pick up my Classic with 57 classic plus in the bridge and 57 classic in the neck from time to time though.

You could also put on a set of used LS6 heads for about $500 and pick up another easy 20 rwhp.

The Z06 exhaust will add some power too, plus it weighs a lot less than the stock LS1 exhaust.

Strat,
Just kidding!
I'm like the single coil style. Had a lot of strats but finally found a Tele that I like!
Best of luck on the Vette and the Stratocaster!
