Hello everyone.

I am new to the forums. I have a question that I hope someone can help with. I have just purchased a 2002 z06 in electron blue. It had a few rock chips on the front bumper cover . So being that I work at a GM dealership with a body shop on hand I decided to have the cover painted. Well my car has a air intake. There was a molding placed just between the front cover and where the hood closes. There was a little paint on the molding and being a little picky I pulled it off to replace it only to find that GM does not service this part. So I looked at another 2002 corvette that does not have the molding or seal. So my question is ... Did this seal come as a part of the air intake to keep trash and water from the air intake or what? Also does anyone know if it will hurt to leave it off? If I choice to replace can someone point me in the right direction to get it. Thanks

You might try posting a picture of what you are talking about .... there are a number of 3rd party intake systems for the Corvette .... sounds like you have one of them. Without a picture or more information it is impossible to guess which one you have (Vararam ... Blackwing ... whatever).

Welcome to the Corvette world .....

It's aftermarket. Do a search for hood seal.

Tony .... I think you got it ... the "performance hood seal" ....

What threw me were these two sentances ....

Well my car has a air intake. There was a molding placed just between the front cover and where the hood closes.

I was trying to picture something related to his intake system......

smithjr .... go here as one example of what we think you are talking about ....

might help keep some minor debris out....but performance wise...won't make a bit of difference....Its mostly to keep dust and debris from collecting on the part of the inner bumper. Takes me all of about 30 seconds to clean that area up for a car show. So no performance hood seal for my car....not unless someone gives me one for free.
