Default AC Vacuum

The dealer said I have a vacuum leak at the AC module located on the back of the engine next to the oil pressure sender. This controls the
mode, doors, for my AC. I know what the oil pressure sender looks like..
But, does anybody have a picture of the AC control module.

I had my AC fixed Friday 6/13/2008 All vents switch on all modes and gets really cold now.
Dealer has to remove intake manifold and fix broken vacuum line to vacuum tank that controls
the AC doors. Cost was $441.00 to fix. I am disabled from a stroke and could not do the repairs
myself.

No such thing as an "AC module" at the back of the engine. There is however a small (and very short) 1/8" (O.D.) black nylon vacuum line that hooks up to the rear of the intake manifold. It sometimes gets overlooked when guys take their intake manifold off for a swap or to replace the EOP sender and doesn't get hooked back up.

Sounds like this dealer is trying to make something exotic sounding out of a simple re-connect of the vacuum line. The bad news is that you will have to remove, or at least move forward, the intake manifold to get to it. Lot's of guys have made a simple extension to the line with items easily available at your local auto parts store, so next time it's much easier to hook up and gives you enough slack to not be a problem.

there is a piece that connects to the manifold in between the vac line and manifold.

trust me it can leak, there is an orange multilayered O-ring that can fail.

I can pull an intake in 7 minutes and have it back on in 10 ( with a 1/4 inch drive air wratchet) .

Thanks, that line may supply vacuum to AC Control module that controls
the doors for floor, dash etc. I have replaced my oil pressure sender by the cut method and I can take off the cover I made and go back in through that hole. Dealer said somebody had replaced that vacuum line
with a line that was too big and it would not stay on fitting. So you are
properly right. Thanks again.

There' are a few good pics of that vac fitting in this thread. It's beotch to get to with the manifold on.
Also make sure you don't have a leaking battery issue, as the acid can destroy that vac line where it runs under the battery tray.

Take a look at the fittings, etc available under the "Vacu-Tite" name at your parts store. They have extra 1/8" vacuum line and various fittings/splices, etc. It's easy to make an extension and use the correct sizes for a good fit with no leaks.

Default How much $$$

Does anyone know how many hours the dealer will charge to replace or repair this vacuum line? I don't have the time or patients to attempt this.
