Default trunk mounted battery

have anyone relocated their battery from the front to the trunK? I am most interested in getting information from someone that has done it themselves and knows where to get the parts (Summit???) and also whether or not they configured a vent tube to the outside to be compliant w/NHRA rules. I would most like to know if anyone stuck an Optima in the trunk. Info on the cabling and what you used to tack it under the car would be most helpful. I would like info on a slick, OEM look. Snowman and others have done this mod, but again I would like to know the experience from someone that has done it themselves. Thanks and Merry Christmas everyone!

I relocated the battery before in my last car. I went with the Summit Racing aliminum battery box. Also Moroso makes a nice plastic battery box. With a sealed battery such as the Optima, I don't think a vent tube is necessary. You will want 2-3 good 4 guage grounds less than 18" in the back of the car off of the battery. Then you will want to run a 0/1 guage positive wire from teh rear battery to the front of the car. The easiest thing to do is to connect the 0/1 primary to the stock positive terminal and then reground the stock negative terminal up front. Optionally you can use a power distribution block and run your own 4 guage positive wires to the alternator, main fuse bus, and the starter which is what I did in my last car. Good luck.
