I am trying to decide which way to eventual go so that I don't do the wrong mods for the eventual forced air induction. I have a 2003 Z06. I seem to hear more folks talk about superchargers than turbos on the Z06. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
BEST is subjective-what's YOUR criteria- price, performance, drivability, ease of installation, OR ...... Turbo(s) are close to free energy vs. belt driven blowers that steal power all the time. Turbo's like STS's don't even require intercooler(s) till higher boost levels and under the hood looks virtually stock.
Plan for over 10K for turbo. You can get away with a SC for under 10K.
Turbos are more efficient, SCs are cheaper.
Turbo systems are a lot more complicated but easier to adjust boost.
I would say always go with turbo if you can afford it.
As far as mods go, I wouldn't do anything to the motor until you decide. You don't want exhaust mods (headers, etc) if you go turbo since you will need special manifolds. You can get headers if you do SC. I would not get intakes for either one as they will replace it anyways. The cam choice will be similar.
Personally, I chose nitrous. It's faster but you have to refill it. It depends on your usage and application.
