I was doing some sprinted driving between the office and home tonight when I noticed my oil gauge getting up close to 80 psi at around 6K rpm. Honestly I can't say I have seen it jump that hi before, although I don't think it caught my eye like today.
When I'm cruising it is back down in the 45-50 psi range but it does climb fairly quickly when I get on it.
I have the ls6 pump in my ls1. I've never really paid attention to the oil pressure but I'm at like 60-65psi cold at @3000 rpm. I imagine at 6000 rpm I would be near that...but I can't say for sure, when I'm doing that my eyes are on the road or watching for cops
Try running the oil pressue on the DIC to give you a better idea what it is.

Once I saw my oil pressure gauge on the dash go up, almost as fast as my RPM, once I slowed back down I did flip over to the gauges on the DIC, highest it got was around 78 psi. Then it would settle back down.

Thanks guys, I was just curious, as it had never caught my attention like this before.
