Best bolt ons for C5 would be Long Tube headers with hi-flow cats amd a true cold air intake such as Callaway Honker, Vararam, Vortex Rammer and a tune. If you have an automatic, gears are a great mod, especially if your car came with 2.73 gearing. I believe your 2000 has an LS1 intake manifild so an LS6 intake mainifold is also a popular upgrade.

I'm also interested in quick dollar for goodies upgrades. I also have an automatic 2000 LS1. How can I tell what gearing the car has. Strangely enough I have no idea, and no idea how to find out. I am looking into LT Headers now as well.

Headers and Gears, headers and gears, headers and gears.
On a stock or stock-ish setup, they are the only thing you should spend money on for performance. Cold Air intake is good too, but you can rig that up for free.
IF you have an automatic, then add a converter with the gears.
IF you have a 2000 or earlier, and LS6 intake manifold is a good mod too, and can be had very cheap.
Cat-backs are primarily for sound. Don't buy one expecting performance gains.
MAF sensors, airbridges, x-pipes outside of a header kit, throttle body bypasses or spacer or inserts, etc. are paperweights and the advertised hp increases are pure b.s.

You have a build sticker in the glove box. It has codes for everything added to your car. You'll have to search to find the meanings of the codes they are all 3 digit combinations of letters and numbers.

Whoa, I was right? There really is a note somewhere buried in the car! HAHA!
