Default Stock C5 catback power capabilities?

How much power can you put through a stock C5 catback system.....or better yet how much power does it rob?

I have long tubes through a catless x pipe and Z06 ti's at the moment. Thought about goin for the sleeper look and slapping the original catback back on (quieter and less flashy looking)

but will the car just look like a sleeper or actually fall asleep

Just curious

I do think it will go to sleep, but you are going to lose some. First you are adding weight and the stock system is more restrictive then the Z06 TI system.

just coming from stock c5 exhaust to american racing headers with offroad X, corsa pace car catback, you will loose pretty significant amt of power

Has anyone ever actually dyno'd this difference?

I staid with the Ti's on my coupe. My car is a sleeper until I get on it and the Ti's bark and growl. The Ti's are connected to LG LT headers, hi-flow cats and "X" pipe. All my MODs are in my profile..I'm at 530RWHP.

As mentioned the stock C5 mufflers are restictive. The Ti exhaust has a very good flow and sound at WOT. Plus they are heavier...stay with your Ti exhaust.

Restrictive for what, a Twin Turbo LS7 at 9 PSI, or restrictive for a 400hp LS1 /w Long tubes and a cam?

I'm going down next week to my tuner - he has a stock system lying around. I'm going to toss it on and see what my car sounds like with a Stock System. Right now with Heads/Cam/Intake/ Long Tubes/ etc... 400whp and B&B Bullets it's around 130dB and Ridiculously loud...

I'm curious - if i put the stock exhaust on, how loud it will still be, and I may talk him into running a before and after dyno to see if there's any REAL hp loss on a 400whp NA setup...

The before and after dyno results would be great. I am sure you will lose some but it would be interesting to see exactly what it would be on a modified car.

I doubt the difference in power would be noticeable...
There is a weight difference (26 lbs IIRC) but then again, most drivers in the US could stand to lose that 26 lbs from their own catbacks

Default Catback

Have been thinking about going to Ti's however the several tuners I've spoken with advise about a 2 hp gain. Seems fair to conclude the opposite would also apply.

I have the Ti's on my car and they do work great but i really need some hard facts about the Stock C5 catback, not the Z06 Ti catback

When I didn't have cats on and before the LS6 intake I dynoed with the cutouts shut then open. The Ti was robbing 10hp with full exhaust, pulley and vararam.

No I didn't... had a 1.5 Hour drive and didn't get to my Tuner's shop till about 6:30pm. He was anxious to get home, so we just threw the exhaust on and called it good. It's funny how quiet the stock exhaust system is compared to the bullets. It sounds much like the Ti's, except a little quieter, and doesn't have that "Tinny" sound. (Still decent sounding at WOT, and silent otherwise)

I'm thinking about trying some cut outs or something...
