on my 2002 c5 the passenger side headlight would not come up. I turned the switch on and off a few times and it poped up, figured it was just stuck. it happend again today, I unplugged the light plugged it back in and it came up. when it closes it makes a terrible grinding noise. from what Ive read on the forum sounds like the gear is bad. My big concern is when I turn the headlight switch to the parking light mode, both lights pop up, before just the foglights came on. if I unplug the passenger side light, and try it again it works correctly, just the fog lights come on. Could a bad gear cause this issue, I figured it would just keep the light from popping up. Can anyone help, I can deal with a new gear or even a new motor but I hate electrical issues.

Hi, yes the stripped gear can do that. The grinding noise is a dead giveaway.
Good Luck
