As promised here are the pictures of the tester I made to check my heater core for leaks.
On the first, 3/4" heater hose, I used band clamps, 3/4" PVC hose ends with 3/4" female threads. On this hose I used a 3/4" to 1/4" adapter, to screw in a 0 to 100 PSI gauge. On the second 3/4" heater hose, I used band clamps, 3/4" PVC hose ends with 3/4" male threads to attach a 3/4" screw on PVC end cap, in which I had drilled and inserted a metal tire valve.
The remaining ends of the two hoses were attached to the heater core tubes coming out of the firewall on the passenger side with band clamps. Hose length is up to you, I have had a stroke so
I made mine long enough for me to handle. I recommend only 20 PSI or less to pressurize heater core for test. Use Teflon tape on all screw on connections. If you get a small leak over a long period, check all clamps and use soapy water to check all connections. A large drop in pressure would indicate heater core has a leak. Hope this helps somebody.

May be a cracked heater core? It happens, not very often though.
How long have you had the car? And where do you live? Maybe it does not get cold enough to use the heater...
I had to do it on my dads 01 blazer when his heatercore went to ****. so he could contine driving it, it was spitting out hot steam in the middle of the summer..
I then had to pull the dash and swap it out with a new heatercore.
