Default I need some advice which direction to go for performance?

I've done searches about this for the last couple of days and to make a long story short i can't find the exact idea i'm looking for.

I've got a 02 C5 6spd that has a Donaldson Blackwing intake & Granatelli MAS, Full length headers, crossover tube & Corsa mufflers etc. Supposively the computer has been reworked. Other than that its stock.

This car is just a fun car that will be drove here and there on weekends & Friday nights at local dragstrip & sometimes longer trips (300miles) once or twice a year. Anyway i'd like to get the TSP 233/239 cam with 112lsa, springs, oil pump etc. but i'm not sure if that be the best cam or best money spent now? i do have a NOS brand wet kit i could put on it but i'd like to have the engine run/sound better before i do that route. I thought of the MSD coils/plugs/wires route from Jegs but thats alot of coin just to throw at something that has had issues in the past and may not improve performance.

Anyway i'd just like to get started in the "modding" of my C5 engine or driveline and obviously only want to spend the money once rather than experimenting myself when you guys have done the homework already. Thanks for the help!

Don't bother with replacing the coils. The stockers are fine. There will be absolutely no gains unless you have a defective one currently in play. That cam would be great especially with nitrous. Don't forget to budget in springs, pushrods and a professional tune.

Skip the coils and wires unless your wires have an issue. Nothing to be gained with them. IMO almost any new plug will help. NGK tr-55's are popular with people who do a lot of work on their cars, otherwise get an irridium for 100k miles.

Cams are a pretty personal choice, no clear winners. I just put in a LG G5x1 cam and so far its great. TSP's maybe good for drag racing, not sure but thats what they are into mostly I think. I would spend money on some good heads, the AFR 205's sound really good. I probabily should have gone with them, but I got some very nice ported LS6 heads and I like them a lot.

Also, gears are an option. Maybe not the best thing for long road trips, but drag racing they are... Maybe 3.72's are a good idea if you want to take trips with it.

Put some kind of huffer on it, and still have near stock driveability, reliability and fuel economy.

no coils, get the cam. you probably don't have to go that big either for your stock heads.

cool, i agree about the coils - forget them.

Would the NGKTR55 plugs be ok for the spray though? and 95% of the time this would be just motor not spray.

I'm having a heck of a time deciding the cams whether to go with the TSP 233/239 cam or the Speed Inc. S15 cam???? - This will sound childish but the main reason i like the TSP cam is because you can see & hear sound clips & action shots of this exact cam in LS1 cars and they sound great. but i'm all for performance over sound.

do cam research over on ls1tech . com

they have a sticky on some of the basics. drink your favorite beverge while reading and re read frequently.

If you really want a good cam contact preditor or patrick g over there at LS1tech, that's all they do are cams (well not all, but it's their specialty)

Default h/c & intake package

Do a AFR 205 head & cam kit,( lg g5x3 cam ) and a FAST intake set up and you will not want to get out of the car. It will probably get you about 450 rwhp or better after a good tune. Check out the
LG website for results. ( Dont forget the upgraded clutch kit)

LG stands for Lou Gigliotti. He's been racing Corvettes forever. From the site...

LG Motorsports Beats the best in 06

LG Motorsports with Lou Gigliotti driving beat the best but was stopped By a rule change.

After getting 3 poles, 2 wins and leading the most laps in 06, the rules had to be changed to allow the competition to have a chance. The LG Motorsports Corvette C6 had 190 pounds to it which took it out of the fight.

Regardless, the LG Corvette still managed to finish 2nd in the Championship beating the Katech powered GM Factory effort not only in the points but flat out in the last race.

Gigliotti beat the Factory funded Cadillac CTSv race team by one position in the last race which clinched 2nd place for the LG independent Corvette team. Truly a Giant Killer.

In fact, in 2005, the Factory race team had to work a deal with Gigliotti to "Let their driver by" at Mosport while Gigliotti was leading the race. Being a good GM team, Gigliotti let their driver pass and Gigliotti followed them to the finish line in 2nd place inches from the multimillion dollar funded GM race car.

LG Motorsports was instrumental in helping GM capture the Manufacturers Championship in 2005.

As for the performance, if you are going to have someone install it (a speed shop) then talk to them about recommendations as they will be doing the tuning as well. If you are going to do the install then if TSP is your brand choice give them a call for recommendations.

The intake/throttle body and then heads would be next depending upon the budget and goals.
