Ok i bought a left side output shaft from a vendor. I got my diff set out on the table all ready to tear into this thing with my instructions from http://www.c5frc.com/DIY/Hardened_Ou...haft/index.htm . well i get to looking at this website and it looks like this is a guide to changing the right side output shaft. Am I wrong in thinking this or is the left shaft taken out from the right side? I took the left cover off and couldnt see a c-clip or anything to release the shaft so I'm kinda stumped.
Follow the directions shown and you will be fine. You should be replacing the LONG shaft,to replace the short side you need a gear as well.Regardless, the diff comes apart or out of the case from the same side regardless, once you pull the 10 smaller bolts holding the carrier( NOT the ring gear) together, you will see where the new shaft goes.PM me if you like,I think I have some pics floating around of this job.
thanks! just got it apart for anyone who has the problem in the future those directions are for the left shaft it just pertty much runs to both ends of the differential.
