...I was installing an IPOD2CAR this morning - pulled the Stereo, installed the harness, noted the HU now has no power. I believe the IPOD2CAR might even be charging (need to confirm this).
Very odd - I even have an extra HU (doing the same thing). No LED, no backlight, zero power. Even connected directly back to the OEM wiring harnesses (removing the IPOD2CAR from the equation).
I'm assuming it might be a fuse? Guess I can root around and find the stereo fuse.

Any ideas?
Head unit fuse is #5 in passenger footwell.
Are you using stock HU or aftermarket ? Stock units work by data connection (ie no power into unit that you can tap)
Ahh #5, my diagram I thought indicated either #28 or #24, but I checked #5 (I see now the diagram shows the this one) and sure enough it is blown! I have a spare righ under the hood, so let me try this again
This is an aftermarket interface designed specifically for this HU and and IPOD.

Wow, thanks a TON!
My bro is using stock speakers and a aftermarket HU (Alpine) w/IPOD connection.
Cool that fixed it up! There's an additional harness hanging off the IPOD2CAR that fits one of the connectors from the OEM harness, but it doesn't appear that's how it hooks up (it seems to be some kind of outboard IO connector).
Anyway, I thought I had exhausted the fuse issue, that that was a tremendous help! IPOD tunes for the Orlando trip today! Woohoo!

The ipod tunes sure beat the radio crap. I might do HD or satelite one of these days. But since I don't really drive the vette very often, it's probably a waste of money.

We had Sirius for about 2 years - it was super nice when we made the drive to the Wife's folks (FL to PA). Added a simple AUX jack to the X5 and used a small headunit with a magnetic roof antennae.
The problem was we pretty much only used it on trips, so it just seemed silly to keep paying $15/mo (or whatever the fee was).
Eventually I'd upgrade the HU on this to a nice Pioneer or a CarPC with a touch interface (the latter appeals to my geeky side more ). For an interim solution, this is pretty decent!
Again huge thanks!
(PS, I'll let you know how the new Simpsons ride is )
