Well I finally decided to step up and take the plunge in something with a bit more kick you could say. I had been looking at a new bottom end to finish the other ton of crap already on the car. I had considered just rebuilding, decided to go new. I had been considering a 383 stroker, I found out this is the wrong time of the year for me to be dealing with engine and performance shops. Racing season is in gear and the quickest I'd get a block done and delivered would be by mid August or so.
In the end I found a new 427 here locally. A guy had dropped a deposit on it already and then changed his mind. LOST HIS DEPOSIT which made the deal pretty good for me. Looking at install in the next couple of weeks.
Now based on my sig and the addition of the 427, what kind of power could I be putting to the tires you think? I was thinking right around 525-550 rwhp or so.
was this a crate engine? a custom short block? who built it???
the answer to hp/torque depends on your heads/cam.. i assume its a ls2 block that is sleaved so with a good set of heads and cam...i would say mid 500 with a ton of torque is in your cards...
Its a custom shortblock built by LS Engineering, it's a new block LS which will allow me to transfer a lot of the parts I currently have to include heads/cam Fast Intake, TB, etc. I left the specs sheet for the block at the house but it the rotating assembly is top notch. Like I said I would not have been able to afford this had it not been for the change of heart by the original person who ordered it.
I've gotten that comment a lot in regards to the torque. I can't wait !! I'm already saving for a new set of tires because I know I'll shred what I got left on these PS2s
