IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING WITH AUTOMATIC I WOULD LEAVE IT TO THE PROS, I HAVE BEEN BUIDING TRANSMISSIONS FOR A LIVING FOR OVER 20 YEARS AT A GM DEALERSHIP AND SEE SO MANY CARS GET TOWED IN BECAUSE PEOPLE HAVE TRIED TO WORK ON IT AND MESSED IT UP
TO PUT A SHIFT KIT IN YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE VALVE BODY AND SERVO DEPENDING ON THE KIT YOU USE AND CHANGE SPRINGS AND VALVES, AND NOT HARD IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING
The quickest way to need a new transmission is for an amateur to attempt to install a shift kit.
Let a pro do it!
Yeah, I think i'll take your advice

Okay, fair enough! So i'm gonna take it to Chevy to do the job...how long do you think it'll take for someone to do this job? I do have to pay them by the hour
Here's a thought; get a pro to tune your car. Shift points will be changed and the HP left on the table @ GM will be found.
True, however I got both done (tune & B&M stage II shift kit) it's a mean son of a gun!!!! The car actually chirps tires going up or down in the first two gears. Add gears and a high stall and you're talking business!! Let me tell you.
They don't have to put it on the dyno if they are just playing with the transmission. A good tuner will make the car feel very different. My car felt almost brand new after adding a cold air intake and a proper dyno tune.
You live in Oceanside. Take it to the Vette Doctors and be done with it!

Yeah i'm staying as far away from a Dyno Tune as possible...too many horror stories and I don't have the money or time to invest in a new LS1 engine .
Yeah, I heard about them...I might take her over...I found out that I just accidentally invested in a Race Exhaust from Borla...now I gotta return this thing....
You need your trans tuned, not a dyno tune. Have the upshift points moved up the RPM band, and downshift points moved down the RPM band. Also change the shift times to .250 Sec. It will drive like a completely different car.
Hey all, anyone have any idea how long it takes and how complicated it is to install one of these into our 4L60E's?
Just curious, i'm thinking of tackling the job myself..i'm an amateur...should I just give it over to a pro?
The 4L60E is the electronic version of the mexhanical 700R4. You can firm up the shift points, etc., with a plug in Hypertech programer. You do not need to install a Transgo or other shift kit. I installed the Hypertech progrram for the trans, to firm up shifts at ther 100% level several years ago- good improvement with no adverse impact on the trans (now 79K miles). However, I wish it was even firmer, and really "kicked" each gear change like the Trnsgo in my C3 (TH350 trans) and my previous C4 (700R4 trans).

P.S. Don't mess with the shift pressures. HTH
A tuner will hook you up to a dyno. He will find out where your car stops making power. They will adjust your transmission to shift so that the car will keep making power. You can adjust the shift pressures in both part throttle and WOT. Full pressure in WOT is your best friend. Full pressure in part throttle, though better for the servos, feels like crap and makes you think your car is broken. My last tuner was stoopid and forgot to readjust the torque converter schedules so now it locks in at 55MPH and won't let the car downshift. That's getting fixed next weeks after my H/C install.
