Default P0140 dtc code question

Hi All,

Well I am still fighting this issue as the dealer did change the oil pressure sensor and fix the vacuum leak (I think) and after one day of driving the check engine light came on again and I found the following code again:

P0140 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit Insufficient Activity Bank 1Sensor 2

I had assumed this problem was related to the vacuum leak as according to the previous owner they had forgot to attach the vacuum line at the back of the manifold. To me it still sounds like the car has a small vacuum leak but I don't have a way to test.

Anyway, I reset the codes and took the car out for a drive 3 separate times today with the engine light not coming back on. As I just purchased the car it needs emissions before I can license and to date this week the car has failed twice, once because of the vacuum leak and the other because I didn't know I had to complete the drive cycle before retest as I drove it from the shop to the emissions station.

Any ideas on what to do as I am thinking of taking the car to the shop yet again as it is the same error as before and according to the previous owner this error did not show up until he had the oil pressure sensor changed.

Can I change the sensor myself or if it is bad?

Thanks,
Jim

If your battery didn't leak onto the wire harness, swap your two rear sensors and see if the code switches banks. The sensors are easy to replace. All you need is a 13/16th open end wrench and possibly some Liquid Wrench.
