Any need for new lifters with a new cam (assuming no since LS1 uses a roller)?
Does the 01 LS6 use different springs than the LS1? The Service Manual mentions "LS6 Engines use Copper Valve Spring Shims..." does this mean these could be used on an LS1 to increase the spring pressure to alleviate valve float?
Yes, the LS6 has different valve springs. No, shimming the stock LS1 springs will not alleviate any float. The best bet is to upgrade them and the pushrods to something better...some '02 LS6 valves would be nice too :D
Shimming to a certain point will up the spring pressures, but this is not the best way of doing it. You will also hit ciol bind sooner as well as stress your springs more. In other words, don't do it! What cam are you going to go with. This will make a difference on what springs and retainers and such to go for.
Semd me an email or call me if you need any help.
Thanks,
