Default Headlite problem

Every time I turn the headlights off they close and the left light pops
open. I turn them off and both lights close and the left light opens.
When I turn them back on the left lights closes and then both lights
open and come on as normal. Weird
Any ideas.

Yes, search there is a TSB on this. There are new parts (washers and spacers) that you install.

Tech - Left Headlamp Door Does Not Stay Closed #00-08-42-002 - (May 30, 2000)
Left Headlamp Door Does Not Stay Closed (Shim Headlamp Door Motor/Actuator and Replace Insulators)
2000 Chevrolet Corvette

Condition
Some customers may comment that the left front headlamp door does not remain closed after the headlamps are turned off. Others may comment that the left headlamp door closes when the headlamps are turned off, but then reopens. In either case, the right headlamp door operates properly.

Correction

Important
The following information applies to the left front headlamp door motor/actuator only. It does not apply to and should not be performed on the right front headlamp door motor/actuator.

Install one washer (2) between the left headlamp door motor/actuator (1) and the mounting bracket (3) at each of the three attaching bolt locations. Also replace the insulator (4) on each of the two mounting bracket travel stop tabs (5) as shown. For information on headlamp motor/actuator removal, see the Headlamp Motor/Actuator Replacement procedure in the Lighting sub-section of Body & Accessories in the appropriate Service Manual.

This EXACT thing happened to me last night! I manually cranked the left light for the cruise home this morning, the tail end of an overnite 350 mile round trip,,,,,didn't want to wink at any rustangs along the way. Got home, searched C5 tech, "headlights one up one down" and found this thread! I wasn't even surprised that the answer would be a few key strokes away!

GAWD I Love the CF!

Merry Christmas and or Happy Holidays Everyone!

I bought the washers from an online parts house and the 11505463 washers were over $3 each with with a $17 shipping and handling charge. Then, it took 8 days to process the order, ship and for me to receive the washers (NC to AL). I measured the washers and here are the dimensions:

Special washers to repair headlight winking problem 2mm thick x 9mm ID x 18.6mm OD

The most important dimension is the thickness.

Are you talking about washers or the bump stops?

Wow! $3 "each" + $17 shipping plus 8 days!!! You can get a "set" from Rodney Dickman for $2.75 and a flat shipping of $4 here.

You might need these as well (the rubber bump stops).
